“My approach to therapy is strengths-based, accepting, and sex-positive. I deeply believe in helping clients examine past traumas and experiences, face present struggles honestly and openly, and create a more positive future. Working on self-compassion, better communication, and clarity about needs and emotions is all important along that journey.”
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I consider myself to be a sex therapist, a relationship therapist, and an individual therapist. I’m certified in Perinatal Mental Health, several Gottman Method programs (Levels 1&2, Bringing Baby Home, Seven Principles of Making Marriage Work, Emotion Coaching, and Treating Trauma & Affairs). I’m the Co-Founder of the birth education program Blissborn. I am also a trained hypnotherapist. I am pursuing certification in sex therapy and working toward being a Certified Gottman Therapist.
Working with me, you’ll have access to deep exploration and education, as well as self-esteem and boundaries work. I work with psychodynamic and feminist theory, the Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Communication skills and mindfulness are great ways to learn more about yourself and to feel better. I love working with adult and teenage clients, individuals and couples, and anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, self-esteem issues, postpartum mood disorders, and childbirth. I am compassionate and invested, and I love to listen and collaborate. I don’t believe in giving advice, but instead strive to offer tools and help clients find their own formula for their life.
I grew up in New Mexico. I also work at Dar a Luz Birth & Health Center, located in the beautiful North Valley of Albuquerque — where my family also lives with our two dogs. I feel very lucky to do everything I do — I just skip around smiling most of the time! I am passionate about my work, and I truly love working with clients, and supporting their growth and feeling better and better.
“I enjoy helping couples find deeper intimacy, friendship and connection in their relationship and have found that so much of our past traumas and insecurities can be healed through a positive, loving, genuine relationship”.
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and have been licensed in New Mexico since 2011. I received my Master’s Degree in Counselor Education and my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies both from The University of New Mexico. Also, I have completed focused training in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Gottman Couples Therapy. I spent the first 10 years of my career working primarily with individuals who struggled with substance dependence and had the honor of running Relapse Prevention groups as well as Parenting Groups. My current focus and passion is working with couples.
I was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and spent the early part of my childhood growing up in Phoenix, AZ. My father immigrated to the United States from Iran when he was 18 years old and he met my mother, a small-town girl from the Midwest. My Persian culture has always been a huge part of my life and a central piece of my cultural identity. I love to take part in the traditional holidays and celebrations and have a strong connection with the Persian community in New Mexico.
I believe that growing up with parents who come from two very different parts of the world has helped me have an openness to diversity. I love learning about other people’s backgrounds and families and have a deep respect for traditions, cultural norms and how two very different people can come together and create a beautiful relationship and family.
In my free time I like to spend time with my family, tend to our garden, arrange flowers, paint, go shopping and listen to music.
Esther Perel said, “There is no greater source of joy and meaning in our lives than our relationships with others.” I invite you to a space where all your relational meanings are defined, unpacked, strengthened and honored. Let’s find meaning together.
I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Master’s in Counselor Education, specializing in clinical mental health and school counseling. My undergraduate work in Human Development and Family Studies, from Texas Tech University, prepared me for lifelong learning about the human condition. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC, License #CCMH0167911) and have worked in a clinic setting since 2011. I have been trained in many modalities and theories, including Imago couple’s therapy, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, Existential theory, and am a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional. I have experience in individual, group, couples/sex and intimacy issues, affair recovery, and family therapy. My focus has included relational conflict, anxiety, depression, gender identity, sexual orientation, substance use, grief/loss, stress, and all of life’s transitions.
I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor and have provided supervision for interns and lower licensed providers as they enter and work in the mental health field. I take great honor in teaching and supporting my peers as they strive to work with people’s most confidential and important areas of life.
I was born and raised in El Paso, TX and have spent the majority of my life here in the southwest. I wear many hats, and constantly strive to land in a place of balance. I feel that by practicing the mindfulness of balance of all parts of my life, I can work with people to define theirs. When I’m not wearing my counselor hat, I love being a part of my family and friend’s time, pretending to organize my home, working out, and being with my kiddo. I love to buy books with every intention to read them, watch reruns, and listen to podcasts.
